Why I Use Iron Remover on Wheels Before Washing
When it comes to detailing, your wheels take the most abuse. They’re constantly exposed to brake dust, road grime, and high heat. Brake dust is especially harmful because it contains iron particles that bond to the wheel surface. Regular soap and water won’t remove them—and scrubbing without proper prep can lead to scratches or swirls.
That’s why we always apply an iron remover before washing the wheels.
Iron remover works by chemically reacting with the iron particles, safely breaking them down and loosening their grip on the surface. You’ll often see it change color (usually purple), showing you it’s actively working.
By decontaminating first, we reduce the need for aggressive scrubbing and ensure a deeper clean. This approach protects your wheels' finish and helps any ceramic coating or protection last longer.
It’s a step many skip, but it makes a big difference in results—and longevity.
